The Barcelona That I Love

Hello everyone once again! I hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe during these tough times. I just wanted to say how excited I am to talk about Barcelona today! Even though it has been a while since I last went there, I still made numerous memories there that I will never forget. So, without further ado, here is my experience going to Barcelona!

Flight To Barcelona

Well, another trip, another adventure! It was during the summer time when I went, so I already knew that Barcelona would be very warm. I packed my bags, got to the airport, and got on the plane. We took a connecting flight from EWR (Newark) to LIS (Lisbon), then from LIS (Lisbon) to BCN (Barcelona). It was quite an adventure. I just love the idea of going around the world in just a day or two. Once we arrived in Barcelona, I was excited to visit all of the places that it is known for. I also wanted to try out all of the food that it was known for. But one thing I learned very quickly from being in Barcelona for less that 10 minutes... IT WAS HOT! It was so hot, I was just standing and sweating by just waiting for a taxi at the airport.

The Architecture

During my time in Barcelona, the main thing that caught my eye, was the type of architecture that all of the buildings had. It was unique and something like no another. Their architecture is influenced mainly by the Romans and Spanish. It is called Catalan Gothic, which contains a more pronounced and harsher type of sculpting in the architecture. Take the Sagrada Familia for example, it is the largest Roman Catholic basilica in the world that has yet to be completed with construction. It began with very detailed types of carvings of different sculptures that were all up against the wall of the entrance. However, over the decades, I noticed how the basilica slowly became less detailed. I did not like that at all since it destroyed the overall charm. Especially the interior of the basilica was very modern and truly nothing that caught my attention too much.

The Charm

The Spanish charm was very prominent all throughout the city of Barcelona. I really loved the view that we got in our hotel. It was small, but cute. It had a view of an alleyway going into another alleyway. It was really nice the colors compliment each other as well.

I also remember when we first walked around in the city. We were kind of lost at first, and miraculously found an amazing place that was an old building that is now a small apartment complex. It looked so quaint and no other tourists saw it, so it was really nice and peaceful. Especially with the light breeze blowing on us and the leaves, which were creating a canopy over the alleyway.

Barcelona was amazing and I recommend you all to visit one day when you get the chance to, once this pandemic is over!
